Pathfinder - Military Employees

Sooner or later you may want to defend your town or build your own private army - these are the employees that will allow you to do that. Unlike other staff, you buy troops in units of five as one soldier alone isn't very effective. You actually get a sergeant and four 'privates' although they all have the stats shown below.

However, if you expect your troops to manage themselves or act with initiative you will need an officer to command them.

Troops are generally issued with a surcoat or tabard to act as uniform, which can be worn over armour or everyday clothes. Most towns or armies issue similar uniforms to all members of their armed forces, so that they can recognise each other easily. It also helps build a sense that they all belong to the same 'army'.

Some military buildings generate a small income and allow you to employ a small number of watchmen free of charge. The costs given are capital costs for recruiting a unit of 1 Sgt and 4 Men. This is an initial cost however, so long as there troops are associated with an appropriate building or role, there are no ongoing costs. Standing armies with no work, will incur costs

Note: I give all classes full HP at first level, not just PC classes. Commoners have all stats @ 11, Warriors have all stats @ 12.

Paramilitary

Watchman: Commoner 2, (25gp)

Roles: Private night watchmen, door keepers, security guards. Etc.
This is the standard Watchman that comes free when a room description says “ The listed price includes the cost of having unskilled employees as guards”.

Militia Auxilliary: Commoner 2, (185gp)
Trait: Auxilliary; Feat: Toughness; Skills: Profession: Soldier 4; Profession/Craft 4.
Padded Armour, Dagger, LXB, Tools. (AC11; BAB +1; HP 12)
Roles: Support staff in garrison (Cook, Stableboy, Messenger etc)
Roles: Civilian - Caravan Crew, Mule Train Crew, Sailors etc.

City Watchman: Commoner 3, (135gp)
Trait: Watchman; Feats: Toughness, Skill Focus (perception); Skills; Profession: Soldier 4, Perception.
Padded Armour, Light Mace, darts. Signal Whistle (AC11; BAB +1; HP 16)
